Yes. The frame specification accommodates the additional weight. The wall fixing and post design are uprated compared to the shingle version to carry the slate load safely.

In most cases a small canopy falls within permitted development. In a conservation area or on a listed building, permission is more likely to be required. The slate finish, if anything, is more likely to be viewed positively by a planning authority on a period property than a modern alternative.

The post height should clear the door opening comfortably and be proportionate to the height of the facade. Taller period door openings and higher facade elevations call for taller posts.
