Opal is most commonly chosen for outdoor living — the diffused light it provides is more comfortable for sitting, dining and spending extended time in the space than the direct light through a clear panel. Bronze is a second popular choice for a warm, sheltered atmosphere. Clear is preferred when the view of the sky is the priority.

More noticeable than under a solid roof. Polycarbonate amplifies rain sound. In light rain this is often considered pleasant; in heavy rain it is louder than most people expect. Worth bearing in mind if the structure is adjacent to a door or window that needs to stay open.

Timber screening panels can be added to the open sides of the structure. This is specified at the time of order. The rear is already enclosed by the house wall.
