The drop is a performance decision

How far the Eclipse hangs below the ceiling decides how the heat arrives. Held tight under a low veranda roof it works close and intensely; dropped 1200mm from a vaulted soffit it puts the warmth and light down where people actually sit rather than diluting both across the roof space.

There is a visual decision alongside the practical one. The twin straight pole reads as substantial and formal, the curved pole softens the line and echoes the portable model, and where there is no ceiling to fix to at all, the wall mount pole brackets the head out from a wall instead.

Six Configurations

Single straight, twin straight, curved or wall mount - the configuration changes the character of the fitting as much as the drop does.

Drops from 200mm to 1200mm let you set the heater height to the ceiling you have, keeping the head above 2000mm floor clearance.

The pole carries the head and its wiring, so the ceiling fixing must be into sound structure rather than plasterboard alone.

On a pitched or vaulted soffit the pole must be mounted perpendicular to the floor so the head hangs level - your installer will need an appropriate fixing plate.

Which pole comes with the Eclipse heater?

The fixed Eclipse Smart-Heat Electric package is supplied with the 600mm twin straight ceiling pole. The other five poles are alternatives for when that drop or that look does not suit the space - order the one you need instead.

How do I choose the drop?

Work back from the 2000mm minimum floor clearance. Measure your finished ceiling height, subtract 2000mm, and that is the maximum drop available to you. Within that, longer is generally better for a high ceiling because it concentrates the heat where people sit; under a low veranda roof the 200mm pole is usually the only sensible option.

What is the twin pole for?

Two parallel poles instead of one. It gives a heavier, symmetrical appearance that suits a formal or larger terrace, and it is the configuration supplied with the standard Eclipse package. Functionally it makes no difference to the heat.

Can I use these on a sloping ceiling?

Yes, provided the pole is mounted perpendicular to the floor rather than square to the ceiling, so the heater hangs level. On a pitched or vaulted soffit your installer will need an appropriate fixing plate - check this before ordering.

Can I change the pole later?

Yes, though it means dropping the heater and re-running the connection, so it is an electrician's job rather than a five-minute swap. Better to establish the ceiling height and the drop you want before the first installation.
