Eclipse Smart-Heat Portable adds months of usable evenings to your outdoor space, from £3,969 with free delivery included.

A heater that does not need an installer

Fixed heating solves one spot perfectly and leaves the rest of the garden cold. The Eclipse Portable takes the same 700mm ceramic-fascia head used in the ceiling-mounted model and puts it on a curved arm above a low, weighted base, so the warmth follows the seating rather than the other way round.

The 145kg of ballast is the part that matters. It is what makes a tall, sculptural heater stable on a breezy terrace, and concealed wheels mean one person can still reposition it. It plugs in, arrives with its dimmer control and remote, and dims heat and LED separately.

Plug In & Go

No electrician and no fixing into the building - it runs from a standard outdoor-rated socket.

Explore Eclipse Smart-Heat Portable

A curved arm holds the head out over the seating area, above a low base carrying 145kg of ballast on concealed wheels.

Ceramic fascia spreads heat evenly across roughly 13m2 while minimising light emission from the element.

Warm-white LED ring, 20W at 24V DC, dimmed independently of the heat for the right level of ambience.

Supplied with its dimmer control and remote, so heat steps through 0, 33, 66 and 100% and the LED dims separately, straight out of the box.

Choose how much sun you let in. Clear glass keeps things bright through grey British winters, while solar-control glazing takes the sting out of July afternoons. Both keep the rain off, so the patio stays usable all year.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Unlike the fixed Bromic heaters, the Eclipse Portable plugs in. What it does need is a suitable outdoor-rated socket on an RCD-protected circuit that can carry the load - if you do not already have one on the terrace, that part is an electrician's job.

On a level, firm surface, yes - the base has concealed wheels and the assembled unit rolls easily despite weighing around 173kg. It will not go up steps or across soft lawn, so think about where it lives before you assemble it, because the ballast makes it a two or three person lift.

The 145kg base gives it far better stability than a typical mushroom heater, so ordinary gusts are not a concern. But radiant heat is carried away by moving air whatever the heater, so on a genuinely exposed terrace you will feel the benefit far more with some shelter - a wall, a screen or a veranda roof.

It uses the same 700mm ceramic-fascia head and covers roughly the same 13m2. The practical difference is geometry: a ceiling-mounted head sends heat straight down over a table, while the portable arm angles it across a seating area. Both work well, they just suit different layouts.

It is IP54 rated in double-coated corrosion-resistant steel, so it copes with British weather outdoors. It will last considerably longer if you cover it or move it under shelter through the worst of the winter, and if you are near the coast, rinse and wipe the head every couple of months.

How do we get you heated?

  1. 1

    Tell us the space

Tell us the size of the area, how it is covered, and whether you have power or gas available. A couple of minutes on the phone or a few photos is usually all we need to get started.

  2. 2

    We spec it properly

We work out the output and the number of heaters your space actually needs, then confirm the mounting method, the controller and any clearances your ceiling height dictates.

  3. 3

    Fitted and tested

Your electrician or Gas Safe engineer installs to the Bromic clearances, we commission the controller with you, and you get a heater that works properly rather than one that merely fits.
