Start from the area you want to keep warm: roughly 6m2 for the 2000W, 9m2 for the 3000W, 12m2 for the 4000W and 15m2 for the 6000W. Those figures assume a protected space with the heater at around 2400mm. If your terrace is open on two or more sides, or you are on the coast, work to the next size up - radiant heat is stolen quickly by wind.

Mostly appearance and exposure. The Platinum is 54mm deep with a tinted ceramic screen, made to sit almost flush and stay visually quiet. The Tungsten is 86mm deep with a honeycomb fascia and an angled bracket, built with a corrosion-resistant high-temperature coating for harder-worn, more exposed sites. Both are radiant, both dim, both mount four ways.

Yes. An Affinity controller handles up to 6000W per channel and comes in 1, 2 and 5 channel versions, so a five-channel dimmer will run 30kW of heating. Beyond that, the 42-channel master remote groups heaters into up to six zones with unlimited units per zone, operating within 30m and without line of sight.

White Tungsten Smart-Heat Electric heaters are available from 1 January 2027. Specification is identical to the black models in every respect other than the finish. If you need white sooner, the Platinum Smart-Heat Electric is available in white now.

The Tungsten is built for it - 304 stainless steel with a high-temperature corrosion-resistant coating. Salt-laden air will still leave deposits on any stainless steel, so rinse the body with fresh water and wipe it down every couple of months in a coastal setting, and never clean it with chlorine-based products.
