Screens are fabric and filter the light while keeping a view out. Roller shutters are solid, so when closed they block heat and light fully, give complete privacy, add security and reduce noise. Shutters suit bedrooms and vulnerable windows.

Yes. Safety springs with a rigid connection provide enhanced protection against the shutter being lifted from outside. That anti-lift security, combined with a solid closed shutter, makes a window or door considerably harder to get at.

Not necessarily. They can be equipped with an integrated solar panel, enabling fully wireless operation. That avoids running a mains supply to each window and gives a sustainable, energy-efficient way to power them.

They help. A closed shutter adds a solid layer in front of the glass, which reduces ambient noise from traffic or neighbours. They are sound-absorbing rather than soundproof, but the difference in a bedroom is noticeable.

On the wall around the opening or directly onto the window frame. Their sleek design suits both, so the choice comes down to the reveal and how you want the shutter box to sit against the house.
