Product information

A motorised zip-style side screen purpose-built for the Pinela pergola range. A Somfy IO tubular motor drops the anthracite fabric screen cleanly into position, with the zip edges sealing against the side guides to block sun, wind and sightlines in one movement.

Two installation orientations are available — inward facing for the cleanest finish, or external tray to leave space for Fiano rails alongside. Supplied in standard Pinela-matched widths and colours, so it integrates with the structure rather than sitting as an add-on.

Specifications

  • Motor: Somfy IO tubular motor
  • Fabric: Anthracite zip-style screen
  • Installation: Inward or external tray orientation
  • Compatible with: Pinela pergola range
  • Finish: Matched to standard Pinela widths and colours
The Motorised Side Screen solves a specific problem on an existing Roma Verandas structure: it drops a zip-edge fabric screen into place at the touch of a button via a Somfy IO motor. It is not sold or designed as a standalone garden feature, it is exists to work alongside the rest of the Pinela range, which is why the detail in how it fits and operates matters more than it would for a generic equivalent. For anyone who has already invested in a veranda, pergola or carport, this is the kind of component that closes a gap the main structure was never going to solve on its own. Day to day, that means the zip edges sealing tight against the side guides as the screen lowers, the sort of detail that is easy to overlook in a showroom and impossible to ignore once you are living without it. It is built for genuinely regular use rather than a single demonstration, holding up to being opened, closed, cleaned or adjusted as often as the structure it belongs to actually gets used, season after season rather than just through one good summer. Because the Motorised Side Screen* is engineered specifically for Pinela systems rather than adapted from a generic part, it sits in place properly rather than reading as an obvious add-on. The zip edges sealing tight against the side guides as the screen lowers is the specific feature that makes it worth buying rather than improvising with a generic alternative, and it is built for daily use, not occasional use.
The Motorised Side Screen* is fitted by Roma Verandas' approved installer network. Motorised components mean a slightly more involved fit, with a power supply needed nearby. Installation typically takes one to two days depending on span.
Wipe the powder-coated aluminium frame down with mild soapy water every few months to keep the finish looking sharp, and clean any glass or polycarbonate with a soft cloth rather than anything abrasive that could mark the surface. Clear gutters and drainage channels regularly so rainwater runs off properly instead of pooling against the frame, which is what causes most premature paint wear on structures like the Motorised Side Screen*. Periodically check moving parts, seals and drainage channels for wear, and for the Motorised Side Screen* specifically, keep the zip guides clear of debris and check the fabric tension twice a year. Motorised components and tracks should be checked roughly twice a year, kept free of debris so they continue to run smoothly rather than straining the motor. This kind of routine inspection matters more for the Motorised Side Screen* than it might for a simpler structure, given the mechanism involved in how it operates. Before winter, clear leaves and debris away from the structure and check that fixings are still tight, since a loose fixing left through a wet winter tends to work itself looser rather than settling. After winter, look over the frame for any chips or scratches in the paint that could let moisture in, and address them promptly rather than leaving them to spread. Skipping this routine cleaning is the single biggest reason a paint finish wears faster than the warranty period would suggest it should.
The aluminium frame is covered by a 5 year warranty against paint defects such as peeling, blistering or premature deterioration under normal use. The motor is covered by a 5 year warranty against mechanical or electrical failure, with motor parts, remote controls and control boards covered for 2 years. Plastic and polycarbonate components are covered by a 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects. In coastal, high-moisture or chemical environments the paint warranty is reduced to 2 years due to accelerated wear. Cover applies under normal residential use and excludes misuse, lack of maintenance, storm or snow damage beyond specification, and unauthorised modification.
Motorised Pergola Side Screen is built to order. In stock items are dispatched within 7 days. Out of stock or made-to-order items take 14–16 days. Once ready, our installer network will contact you directly to confirm a fitting date; please have a solid, level base and clear access in place beforehand, along with a nearby power supply if the product is motorised.

About this product

The Fiano Motorised Screen is a motorised zip-style side screen purpose-built for the Pinela pergola range. A Somfy IO tubular motor drops the anthracite fabric screen cleanly into position at the touch of a button, with the zip edges sealing against the side guides to block sun, wind and sightlines in a single controlled movement. It is not a generic blind adapted to fit — it is a system designed specifically for this application, which is visible in every detail of how it installs and operates.

Two installation orientations are available depending on the layout of the structure. Inward-facing gives the cleanest possible finish with no visible tray or housing on the outside. External tray orientation leaves space for rails alongside the screen, allowing the Fiano motorised screen and a glass sliding door system to work together on the same opening. The height can be shortened on site by trimming the side guides, making it adaptable to non-standard heights without ordering a custom size.

Supplied in standard widths and colours matched to the Aperto range, with anthracite fabric on both sides for a consistent appearance from inside and out. For anyone who wants sun, wind and privacy control on the Pinela without compromising the clean, integrated look of the structure, the Fiano Motorised Screen is the right solution.
